Class Plans:
Journal: What specific feedback do you want from your group on this draft? What are you most unsure about? What questions can you ask the group members, as readers? (5 minutes)
i. Reminder, Katherine Weber Presentation – Oct 20
I. Discuss “Little Miracles, Kept Promises” Revision Activity
II. Reminder of Peer Review Discussion Thursday
III. Peer Review: Before you start, look at your journal entry for today. Don’t share it with your group yet. Read each person’s piece at the same time as the rest of the group, one at a time. You may choose to read silently, or you may choose to let the author or another group member read the piece out loud and then comment silently for a few moments afterwards before discussing as a group. Set an alarm to make sure that each person gets an equal amount of time. Try to give each person at least 10-15 minutes total, including commenting, and then go back if you have extra time at the end. Make time for each author to ask their journal questions after you discuss their work.
IV. Exit Slips:
- Did you get helpful feedback from your group? What specific advice did they give you? What aspects of giving feedback could your group improve on?
- What specific feedback did you give? What ways do you need help in giving good feedback?
- Do you want to stay with your current group or switch groups for the final poetry unit?
- Is there anything else you would like to tell me about your current groups or your progress this semester?
